The ceremony honoured the dedication, perseverance, and professional sacrifices of these individuals, many of whom completed demanding studies both in Malta and abroad. Several of the newly warranted veterinarians have also chosen to serve in Malta despite being far from their countries of origin.
During the event, Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Animal Rights Anton Refalo commended the unwavering efforts of the veterinary community. He praised their essential work in promoting animal welfare and protecting animal health, noting the many challenges they face in their profession.
“This ceremony serves as a testament to the appreciation Malta has for its veterinary community, as these newly warranted professionals continue to ensure the health and safety of both animals and humans,” concluded Minister Anton Refalo.
Chairman of the Veterinary Surgeons Council, Dr Natalino Caruana De Brincat stated that The Veterinary Surgeons, Council is making significant strides in advancing animal health and welfare. With the government support, a new legislation is also being introduced to regulate Para-Veterinarians, ensuring proper training and effective contribution to the veterinary field. Additionally, the Council is undertaking a crucial review of the Veterinary’ surgeons Code of Ethics to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and integrity in this evolving profession.
