Warrant Award Ceremony for Veterinary Professionals
A number of veterinary professionals were officially awarded their warrants during a ceremony held to recognise their successful completion of the requirements necessary to practise the veterinary profession in Malta.
The ceremony celebrated the dedication, commitment, and perseverance demonstrated by these professionals throughout their academic and professional journey. The award of the warrant marks an important milestone, signifying their readiness to uphold the responsibilities and ethical standards expected within the veterinary profession.
Addressing the ceremony, Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Animal Rights Anton Refalo highlighted the vital role veterinary professionals play in safeguarding public health, animal health, and animal welfare. He emphasised the importance of their contribution throughout the food production chain and their responsibility in ensuring that food products meet the highest standards of safety and quality.
The Minister also referred to the continued investment being made in the veterinary sector, including ongoing efforts to introduce Malta’s first veterinary degree programme through a collaboration between MCAST and the University of Barcelona. This initiative is expected to provide new educational opportunities for Maltese and Gozitan students wishing to pursue a career in veterinary medicine.
Chairman of the Veterinary Surgeons Council, Dr Natalino Caruana de Brincat, congratulated the newly warranted professionals and thanked them for their commitment to maintaining the high standards of the profession. He noted that the granting of a warrant represents a significant responsibility founded on public trust, professional ethics, and accountability.
The Veterinary Surgeons Council extends its congratulations to all newly warranted veterinary professionals and wishes them every success as they embark on the next stage of their professional careers, serving both animal welfare and public health in Malta.
