Paula Calamatta is Chairperson of the Veterinary Surgeons’ Council of Malta.

She brings over 19 years of working experience in veterinary related policy, legislation, and regulatory affairs. Her career includes representing Malta in Brussels during negotiations on European Union veterinary legislation, as well as serving for the past six years as an advisor on veterinary matters amongst others, providing strategic and policy guidance on issues affecting the sector.

Her professional background is complemented by extensive experience in the equine industry, having spent seven years in Kentucky, studying, and working with horses. She holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Equine Management and a Master of Business Administration (MBA).

Drawing on her experience in legislative affairs, policy development, and stakeholder engagement, she is committed to supporting high standards of professionalism, animal health, and public confidence in the veterinary profession.
